My father was a stoker on the Spartan, to our families knowledge.
we know he was aboard during the Anzio campaign, he never divulged to much about his experiences especially the bad happenings, however one recollection by the crew of LCI 219 matched the one recall he told us, regarding the tower bridge going under.
his Name Donald Fletcher, dob 12/5/1922
he was from Wolverhampton in the west midlands, if any veterans or family of heard of him or could pass any information, when he was demobbed he went on to spend his working life in the boiler /heating trade sadly we lost him in 2001, and his grand children and great grandchildren are trying to piece it all together and in fact replace missing service medals
