My father, who was with the BNAF in 1944, was examined by a field hospital on 8th February 1944 and classified as B2. (Fit for garrison duties.) The following day he was sent for training at IRTD and from there, further training with the METS. Just over a month later he was posted to 1 Special Force, 6 Base Sub Area in Italy. A strange sequence of events for someone who was B2. Could anyone shed any light on what happened and in particular, what is 6 Base Sub Area?
