My Father was in the 1st Battalion Duke of Wellington Regiment travelled to Africa in march 1943 where his casualty from shows he has Malaria & Dysentery. I believe he travelled to Italy I either late 43 or early 44 as an MP IN 115 ‘B’Dog section? the records I have show 51MMS. I Like to find out what the abbreviations mean and where he may have landed in Italy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I can’t help with your quest, but you maybe interested that the grave of the 6th Duke of Wellington lies in the Salerno War Cemetary. I’ve got the Battalion War Diary for my Dad. Does your father’s service record give any help? Perhaps Imperial War Museum or National Records at Kew?
      Good luck.
