I am guiding a group to Anzio and the lower Garigliano on 7-10 Jun 18 if you are interested in seeing what 221 Fd Coy RE got up to before they reached the Gothic Line and your uncle was killed.

We start on the Garigliano where 56 Infantry Division – which 221 Fd Coy RE supported from 1940, attacked over the river to secure Monte Damiano and then move up to follow them during their time at Anzio. They were rushed there when Anzio went belly up and the Germans launched a series of massive counter attacks.
